Family Learning

family learningFamily Learning offers opportunities for parents/carers to participate in learning activities together. It aims to raise the aspirations and achievement of families, enhance the quality of family life and provide an environment where families can support each other to learn.

The programmes offer varied and accessible learning in ways that are unthreatening inclusive and foster self-esteem and self-confidence for adults and child learners.

Programmes are offered through schools. They raise the awareness of parents/carers about the National Curriculum and how their children learn, raising confidence and skills in supporting their children. They also offer opportunities for parents/carers to improve their own skills.

Other provision is offered in schools, and with community partners, across a range of interests. For example, learning through play, computing, parenting, family learning through football and others. There is a large and varied programme of activities held annually during Family Learning Weekend.
