City Of Sunderland Libraries Reader Development The programme has four elements:   Reading Groups: Based at a number of libraries, members read a selected book, and meet to discuss its merits.   Poetry Reading Group: Meets at Washington Green Library, members read a poetry book and meet to discuss.   Writers Group: Various Groups operate within Sunderland Libraries   Authors Visits: Authors are organised to visit and discuss their work, especially related to key dates (e.g. National Poetry Day and World Book Day)
City Of Sunderland Libraries Lifelong Learning City Libraries offer a range of Lifelong Learning opportunities.   These include: Access to I.T. facilities at all libraries, Basic I.C.T. Tuition, courses run in partnership with Age Concern and Bridge, and LASH (where students can access public, college, and university libraries across the City.)
City Of Sunderland Libraries Libraries Information Access Zone (LIAZe) The LIAZe programme operates in the Coalfield areas of SW Sunderland. It is delivered by a well equipped mobile computer vehicle with networked computers, printers scanners etc. Basic programmes are offered to members of the community.
City Of Sunderland Libraries Activities for Children and Young Children The programme has three main strands:   Study Support/Homework Clubs: to support and assist children in their homework, with access to computers etc.   Reading Clubs for Children: Chatterbooks Groups and Premier Reading Stars sessions to develop reading skills.   Holiday Activities/Summer Reading Scheme: Sessions include craft, storytelling, theatre productions and author visits.   Storytelling Sessions: Storytelling Sessions for the under 4 years old.
City Of Sunderland Libraries City of Sunderland Libraries/City of Sunderland College Partnership Free courses are run in Library Learning Centres and Electronic Village Halls in partnership with college tutors.   Courses are introductory, including basic skills and return to learning.   Subjects include: Maths, English, Basic IT, New CLAIT, Internet Introduction/intermediate, ECDL , Scanners and Digital Imaging.
City Of Sunderland Libraries Sandhill Centre and Electronic Village Hall The programme is non accredited, basic, introductory and recreational courses led by community partner tutors within the Library and Electronic Village Hall, at times to suit the individual/group.   Activities include, A690 Connect, Basic Computing and Computer maintenance, Computing For Beginners, Trace Your Family History, Digital Imaging and Graphic Design using Photoshop, Desk Top Publishing and Introduction to the Internet and Email.

Springboard Sunderland Trust Work Preparation Programme This is offered to people with a disability or health problems, who wish to return to work, through training on a work placement.   Specialist tutorial support is given, and students are assessed to identify training needs.
Springboard Sunderland Trust Personal Development Programme A three week programme with an emphasis upon building confidence, communication and job finding behaviours for people with health and disability problems.
Springboard Sunderland Trust Personal Development Routeway A three week programme with an emphasis upon building confidence, communication and job finding behaviours for people aged 18-24 years of age. 
Springboard Sunderland Trust Full Time Training and Education Option (Various Vocations) A programme lasting 4-13 weeks depending upon individual needs, for people referred by their New Deal Personal Advisor.   The programme offers training or qualifications in basic skills and/or vocational areas, by placement or in house training. Areas of activity include: Motor Vehicle Studies, Care, Sport and Leisure, Horticulture/Agriculture, Media and Design, Business Administration.
Springboard Sunderland Trust Basic Employability Training Jobcentre Plus funded programme to assist unemployed adults over 25 into employment/qualifications/further training, with an emphasis on Basic Skills development (e.g. Literacy and Numeracy)   Related activities include confidence building, communication skills and Job search activity.

Team Wearside Care (NVQ Level 2) Learners are provided with a placement in a care home and appropriate training. Assessment is on the job, with additional training in the Training Centre. Additional support is provided for clients with learning or social difficulties.
Team Wearside Hospitality (NVQ Level 1) The student is put on work placement in a kitchen used for serving the public, where food preparation and basic cooking training is provided. This is supported by activity in the Training Centre. Additional support is provided for clients with learning or social difficulties.
Team Wearside Hospitality (NVQ Level 2) Provides training on all aspects of hospitality, including service, food preparation and service, bar service, customer service through work placement. Additional support is provided for clients with learning or social difficulties.
Team Wearside Forward to Work (Clients aged 25+) Designed for unemployed clients who require confidence building, job preparation, personal skills development and support to obtain work or enter further training.
Team Wearside Tailored Pathways Provision of training to 18-24 year olds to improve job, presentation and employability skills with the purpose of obtaining work or progressing within education or training. Basic skills input can be included within the programme.
Team Wearside 'Hard To Reach' Designed to provide basic skills training to those people or groups who are not engaged with training programmes. These might include single parents, 50+, unemployed, youth offenders, ethnic communities etc.
Team Wearside NVQ Distributive Operations (Level 1) Using an appropriate work placement and off job training, clients work through their units. Placements can be shops, supermarkets or warehouses.   Learners work towards a qualification in literacy and numeracy and receive support for their social needs.
Team Wearside Entry to Employment (E2E) The programme provides confidence and team building, employability training, as well as training to develop self esteem, presentation techniques and interview skills.   Literacy and numeracy skills development are part of the programme   Work placement is secured to assist clients develop additional interpersonal skills.
Team Wearside Retail (Level 2) Using an appropriate work placement, clients are assessed in their workplace. As aspects of retail operations are covered.   Learners work towards a qualification in literacy and numeracy and receive support for their social needs.
Team Wearside Information Communication Technology (NVQ Level 1) Using an appropriate work placement, clients are assessed in the training centre and undertake off the job training. The course covers all aspects of ICT and learners receive support for their social and learning needs.
Team Wearside Information Communication Technology (NVQ Level 2) Learners are assessed in their appropriate work placement and also undertake off the job training, covering all aspects of ICT.   Learners receive support for their social and learning needs.

Washington Church of Christ English Speaking Other Languages Designed to provide English teaching to asylum seekers in Washington. This is to comply with current legislation for the Asylum Application process, and takes the student to a level they could progress to further education.

Washington Church of Christ Sewing and Crafts For Fun This is a group teaching session, where individuals (especially asylum seekers) teach others skills from their home country.  Skills covered include dress making and alterations etc.
Wearmouth Community Development Trust Adult and Community Learning The learning programmes through ACL are non accredited courses aimed at attracting local people back into learning opportunities by means of fun.   The course subjects vary from keep fit to Art and Craft.
Wearmouth Community Development Trust Bridge Project Bridge offers accredited courses in childcare, mainly the crèche training programme.
Wearmouth Community Development Trust Workers Education Association (WEA) WEA offers accredited course on tracing your family history on the internet.
